MiniRoos is the FA program for small sided football for boys and girls aged 4 to 12 years of age and are designed to get children ready to play 11 v 11 games. Players discover the differences in the size of the field and size of the goal and the benefits of having more space.

ERJSA use these rules as a basis for our competition with several small adjustments. You should not ever refer to the MiniRoos rules, only those linked below.

Adjustments have been made for many reasons, some of which are that we want to:

  • get players ready for rules like offside, without having to learn or understand the technicalities,
  • provide for an experience where players are challenged, where they cannot rely on just one ability, such as being fast; and
  • to protect our coaches who are volunteer parents just like yourself but have stepped up to ensure the children get to play.

It’s all about having fun, learning new skills and making life-long friends.

The above link will take you to the ERJSA Game Day rules. This is your one source of truth. Any further queries should be directed to your club in the first instance.

A guide to what is permissible on field. A special note about shin guards – they must be UNDER socks. If children do not like the feel of this, consider trying a thin sock or hose to put on first under the shin guards.
